Recently, Bishop Fintan made a Pastoral Visit to Kinsale Community School where he received a very warm welcome from School Principal Mr. Fergal McCarthy, members of the KCS Senior Management team and students including Head Boy- Evan Mc Carthy & Head Girl -Jessica Moloney.
Fr. Robert Young Co-PP of Kinsale Parish was also present together with representatives from the Sisters of Mercy Community Kinsale and Fr. James Eivers O. Carm. Prior of Kinsale Carmelite Friary.
The welcome was greatly enhanced by the remarkable talents of a large group of KCS students who provided a lovely traditional music performance for the Bishop.
A tour of school accommodations included various classrooms and Learning Support facilities as well as the ASD specialist services provided to students attending the school. Bishop Fintan also paid a visit to the staffroom where he was warmly received and spoke briefly as he shared in some light refreshment prepared by students.
Students and staff assembled with invited guests in the school hall for a Prayer Service based on the message of Pope Francis’ in his 2015 Encyclical “Laudato Si’ ” on the theme of “Care for the Earth”. The Prayer Liturgy was prepared and presented by School Chaplain Mr. Brian Pentony and members of the Religious Education team. The ceremony was greatly enriched by the beautiful singing and musical accompaniment provided by student members of the Community School Choir and School Orchestra.
