
Bishop Fintan Gavin has announced the following changes to priest appointments in the diocese
Retirement:
Fr John Collins AP in the Family of Parishes of Ballincollig, Ballinora, Kilmurry, Ovens and Farran retires from this full-time appointment, though his priestly ministry will continue.
Priests taking up appointments in Families of Parishes in July 2025:
Canon John Kingston Co-PP in the Family of Parishes of Ardfield & Rathbarry, Barryroe, Clonakilty, Kilmeen & Castleventry, Rosscarbery & Lisavaird and Timoleague to become Assistant Priest (AP) in the same Family of Parishes.
Fr Noel O’Sullivan Co-PP in the Family of Parishes of Douglas & Rochestown, Frankfield & Grange and Turner’s Cross to become Assistant Priest (AP) in the same Family of Parishes.
Fr Michael Regan Co-PP in the Family of Parishes of Ballinhassig, Clontead, Courceys and Kinsale to become Assistant Priest (AP) in the same Family of Parishes.
Canon Martin Keohane Co-PP in the Family of Parishes of Carraig na bhFear, Glanmire, Glounthaune and Watergrasshill & Glenville to retire from this full-time appointment and to become weekend assistant in the Family of Parishes of Aughadown, Castlehaven & Myross, Kilmacabea, Rath & The Islands and Skibbereen.
Fr John Walsh Co-PP in the Family of Parishes of Ballyphehane, The Lough and Togher becomes Co-Parish Priest and Moderator for this Family of Parishes.
Fr Emmanuel Ihomon from Wukari Diocese (Nigeria) to become Curate in the Family of Parishes of Carraig na bhFear, Glanmire, Glounthaune and Watergrasshill & Glenville.
Fr Terry O’Brien MSC Co-PP in the Family of Parishes of Aughadown, Castlehaven, Kilmacabea, Rath & The Islands and Skibbereen is returning to the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart.
These changes will be effective on July 26th 2025.
Commenting on the changes, Bishop Fintan paid tribute to the priests involved.
"I am grateful to the priests who are undertaking new appointments this year and to those who retire from a fulltime appointment along with Fr O'Brien who returns to his order. I continue to be grateful for their willingness to minister in new ways with colleagues and with people in Families of Parishes."
