The upcoming Pentecost gatherings on Saturday 27th in Rosscarbery and on Sunday 28th May in Cork city will be a wonderful opportunity for people and priests to gather to further develop the way forward for our diocese and the Family of Parishes way of being Church

At the centre of both gatherings will be presentations from Julianne Stanz who is Director of New Evangelization in the Diocese of Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA. Julianne has extensive experience in guiding faith communities towards a more vibrant and mission-oriented future. Her expertise and wisdom will be thought-provoking as we navigate the changes in our own diocese.

During these gatherings, those present will pray, discuss, and reflect together, fostering an atmosphere of collaboration and unity. The Pentecost gatherings will be the start of something new encouraging innovative thinking and inspiring change. We firmly believe that through the grace of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, we can invigorate our diocese and embrace the future with renewed hope and purpose.

Each parish in the diocese will be represented by up to ten people, including the priests. Other ministries in the diocese, e.g. chaplaincies, will also be represented.

These gatherings will be part of an on-going process in the diocese which will include more local area meetings in the autumn, drawing on the insights shared and learned in May.

Recognizing the changing landscape of faith and acknowledging the immense possibilities it presents, we are called to embark on a new way of being Church together, people and priests in co-responsibility.

Through these Pentecost gatherings, we will explore how we can respond to these opportunities, charting a path that not only reinvigorates our diocese and parishes but also enables us to extend our reach to people.

It is a time for us to come together, share ideas, and discern the steps we must take to fulfill our mission as a faith community.
