Literally: An introduction to a subject or area of study.
The propaedeutic year is a year of discovery during which a candidate for the priesthood receives an introduction to the spiritual and academic life in a seminary setting. Students can avail of this year to assess their call to priesthood. Currently, the diocese arranges for this time to be spent in a seminary in Spain.
