Notes
During his appointment as Chaplain to the Ursuline Convent, Blackrock, he decided to give up missionary work in the diocese, and with the permission of Bishop Delany he joined the Trappist Order of Monks at Mount Melleray, Co. Waterford. There he found his health unequal to the austerities of that order and within a few days, he returned to the diocesan mission in Cork.
