On a beautiful sunny Second Sunday of Advent, Bishop Fintan made his first visit to the parish of Glounthaune at the weekend.

Glounthaune is one of the few parishes of the diocese which is in East Cork. The parish includes four areas: Brooklodge, Glounthaune, Knockraha and Little Island.
Bishop Fintan celebrated Mass in the three churches of the parish – St. Mary’s Church, Knockraha, St. Joseph’s Church, Little Island and the Sacred Heart Church, Glounthaune.
During the 12noon Mass in the church in Glounthaune Bishop Fintan inducted Fr. Damian O’Mahony as the new Parish Priest.
Parishioners presented Fr. Damian with the Book of the Gospels, a priest’s stole and the keys of the Church as part of the induction ceremony.
Fr. Damian is assisted in the parish by Fr. Pat Nugent who also ministers in the neighbouring parish of Glanmire.
Glounthaune parish is part of the Family of Parishes which also includes Glanmire, Carraig na bhFear and Watergrasshill/Glenville.
Bishop Fintan was delighted to meet parishioners and they too were delighted to meet him.
