Bishop Fintan Gavin has been unable to visit schools since the Covid19 pandemic began. In a unique virtual visit, the bishop has spoken to the children and staffs of the 174 primary schools in the diocese.
Scoil Barra in Ballincollig hosted a visit by Bishop Fintan to Third Class and this visit was relayed to the white boards and projectors of schools across the diocese which stretches from Watergrasshill to Goleen and Cape Clear.
The visit was viewed by children in the 174 schools in their own classrooms.
Bishop Fintan told to the children that he would love to be able to visit each of their schools in person but that it’s not possible at this time but hopefully it will be before too long.
“It was wonderful that you safely re-opened last August,” he said. “You have been a beacon of hope and stability for families and the wider community.”
“From here, through my chat, prayer and visit with you I hope that I can offer each of you and your families a Christmas message that tells us something of the joy and happiness that Jesus wants to give to each of you this Christmas.”
