Fr O’Hea was a nephew of Most Rev. Dr. M. O’Hea, Bishop of Ross, a cousin of Fr. Eugene O’Hea, Adm., Kilmacabea (1864-1865)Fr. Jonas Callanan, Adm., Kilmeen (1893-1906).
He was an uncle of Fr. Timothy J. O’Sullivan, C.C., Rosscarbery (1914-1916)
At the request of Most Rev. Dr. Wm. Fitzgerald, Bishop of Ross, he left for America on the 3/4/1880 to collect funds for the new church in the course of construction in Clonakilty, and for the renovation of the Pro-Cathedral in Skibbereen. In total he raised over £2000.
A memorial of this fundraising is a gold chalice which was presented to him by some Boston friends (Dec. 9th. 1881). The chalice is preserved in the Parish of Ardfield.

Obituary
His Lordship, Most Rev. Dr. Kelly, Bishop of Ross, presided at the Solemn Requiem Mass. The celebrant of the Mass was; Fr. Jeremiah J. O’Hea, C.C., Rosscarbery; deacon was; Fr. Florence McCarthy, C.C., Kilmeen; sub-deacon was, Fr. Jeremiah Burke, C.C., Leap, and the master of ceremonies was, Fr. Joseph O’Sullivan, C.C., Clonakilty.
