Obituary
Canon Timothy McSweeney, was the oldest priest of the Dioceses of Cork & Ross when he died at 94 years of age.
A native of Kilmichael parish, Canon McSweeney was ordained at St. Patrick’s College, Maynooth, in 1928.
He served in parishes across the dioceses and was responsible for the building of the Church of the Real Presence in Curraheen, Cork, and the schools in the Curraheen area. This was while he was parish priest at Ballineaspaig parish (Dennehy’s Cross), where he served for 14 years.
Canon Tim died on August 9th, 1996.
May he rest in the Lord’s peace.
