Canon O’ Donoghue was one of a family which made notable contributions to Irish literature. A fluent Irish speaker and M.A. in Celtic studies, he was a brother of Professor Tadgh O’Donoghue, Professor of Old Irish at U.C.C., who wrote under the pseudonym “Torna”, and Eamon O’Donoghue, Professor of Modern Irish at U.C.C.

Obituary
His Lordship Most Rev. Dr. Lucey, Bishop of Cork presided at the Solemn Office and Requiem High Mass. The celebrant of the Mass was Fr. Denis O’Donoghue, C.C. Bandon, with Very Rev. James Canon Bastible P.P., St. Patrick’s as deacon, and Very Rev. Robert Canon Powell Adm. Cathedral as sub-deacon. The Master of Ceremonies was Very Rev. Daniel Canon Connolly.
