Obituary
The death occurred last evening (7/4/02) of Canon Declan Crowley, retired parish priest of Ovens and a priest of the Cork and Ross Diocese.
Canon Crowley was a native of Enniskeane parish and has lived in Glanmire since he retired in January 1996. He was 82 years of age.
Among Canon Crowley’s appointments were terms in England after ordination and again in the late 1950s. He also served in Dunmanway as chaplain and as curate in Turners Cross, Cork, for three terms. He was curate at Passage West from 1962 until 1964, when he was transferred to Gurranabraher as curate. His third term in Turners Cross parish was from 1969 to 1980.
He then served as parish priest of Ovens parish for 16 years.
