Fr. Leo, as he more popularly known, was ordained for the Diocese of Cork. He entered the Vincentian Community (CM) on the 7/9/1927 and he took his final vows as a member of the Community on the 8/9/1929.
In 1928 he was appointed to All Hallows College, Dublin, where he served in the formation of students for the priesthood first as dean for seventeen years and then as spiritual director for twelve.
In 1955 he was appointed Superior of the Vincentian Community in Sunday?s Well, Cork. He remained in Cork when his term as Superior ended.
For many years he was the Spiritual Director to the students of St. Finbarr?s Seminary, Cork.
He was an uncle of His Lordship, Dermot O?Mahony, retired Auxiliary Bishop of Dublin.
