Fr. Con Cronin has spoken on television about the challenges and the positives of being cocooned.
Passage West based Fr. Con was interviewed from his home by Elaine Crowley on her show for Virgin Media TV on Monday.
A native of Bantry parish, Fr Con is a member of the Kiltegan Fathers and spent most of his priestly ministry to date in Africa. Having ministered in different places, he has learned how to adjust, he said.
The most challenging aspect of the Covid-19 restrictions, he said, is supporting people who are bereaved. While he misses not being able to be physically present with parishioners at these times, he is maintaining contact with people by phone.
And parishioners are supporting him, too. “When they’re down at the shop they phone and ask ‘what can I get you?’, ‘what can I bring up?’ “, he said.
Fr. Con – along with Fr. Sean O’Sullivan who also serves the Harbour Parishes – also contribute to a weekly podcast on the parish website.
