The bishop was speaking in the aftermath of two storms which badly affected people’s homes and businesses in several West Cork communities, including Bantry.

“I am glad to have this opportunity to join you here in the parish of Bantry this morning to express my solidarity to you the people of Bantry in what has been a particularly difficult few weeks for you and for different parts of West Cork, including Rosscarbery, Bandon, Dunmanway, Skibbereen.

“The effects of storm Ellen and more recently storm Francis with the damage and upheaval that it has caused has been felt here in the town of Bantry – to homes, and businesses and infrastructure.”
