On Friday, the 24th of January, the helpers from the Lourdes pilgrimage were with Bishop Fintan for Mass and a social gathering. In his homily he focussed on his personal experience of accompanying groups to Lourdes and how he received much more from the experience than he gave.

The Gospel for Mass was the wedding feast at Cana – where we see Mary telling the stewards to follow the instructions of Jesus and when they do they receive a hundred-fold. In responding to an invitation to come to Lourdes as a helper each one gives of their time, gifts and energy but also receives so much from those whom they serve over the six days of pilgrimage.

Bishop Fintan thanked the helpers for their service and asked them to continue and also to share the invitation with others to come and join the 2020 pilgrimage which takes place from Friday June 12th to Wed. 17th.
