Bishop celebrates his first Station Mass in Enniskeane

A family in Enniskeane Parish had a surprise guest when they hosted their Autumn Station Mass. Bishop of Cork and Ross, Most Rev Fintan Gavin was the principal celebrant of the Mass at the home of John Joe and Kathleen Crowley and family at Lackanashinnagh, Enniskeane.
It was Bishop Gavin’s first experience of a Station Mass and it was his first visit to Enniskeane Parish.
Dublin-born Bishop Gavin was ordained Bishop of Cork and Ross in June of this year and expressed an interest in attending a Station. The Station Mass tradition has been a feature of Catholic parishes in the diocese for several centuries and they are celebrated in Spring and Autumn.
John Joe Crowley, on behalf of the family, welcomed Bishop Gavin to their home and said the family were delighted that he would celebrate Mass in their home.

At the Station Mass at the home of John Joe and Kathleen Crowley, Lackanashinnagh, are the extended Crowley Family with Bishop Fintan Gavin who was the Principal Celebrant of the Mass and Fr Tom Hayes, PP, Enniskeane.
