Annual Pilgrimage to Gougane Barra

The feast day of St. Finbarr, Patron Saint of the Diocese of Cork is celebrated on the 25th of September. Each year pilgrims gather on the Sunday after the 25th of September to honour St. Finbarr and ask for his blessing.
This year pilgrims will gather on the feast day, Sunday, September 25th , to celebrate ‘Gougane Sunday’. Rosary will be recited in the Oratory at 2.00pm and Mass will be celebrated in the Oratory at 2.30pm. Cardinal Sean Brady, former Primate of all Ireland will preach the homily this year.
To mark the Year of Mercy a Gate/Door of Mercy will be created at the entrance to St Finbarr’s Island.
