Hewas a brother of Very Rev. Timothy Holland, P.P., Innishannon (1867-1895).
He was a nephew of the brothers, Very Rev. Jeremiah Holland, P.P, Inchigeela (1816-1864) – whom he was to replace as parish priest, and Very Rev. John Holland. P.P., Passage West (1847-1858).
Records show that on two occasions, Bishop Delany offered to confer on him the dignity of Canon of the Cathedral Chapter, and on each occasion he declined the honour.

His Lordship, Most Rev. Dr. O’Callaghan, Bishop of Cork, presided at the Solemn Requiem Mass. The celebrant of the Mass was, Fr. Cornelius J. A. O’Driscoll, C.C., Kilmurry; deacon was, Fr. Daniel Coveney, C.C., Dunmanway; sub-deacon was, Fr. Thomas Magner, C.C., Bandon, and the master of ceremonies was, Fr. Cornelius Magrath, C.C., Cathedral.
