He belonged to a family who gave many members to the Church. He was a brother Very Rev. James Molony, P.P., Aghabullogue (Diocese of Cloyne), and an uncle of the brothers; Very Rev. Jeremiah Molony, P.P., Rosscarbery(1873-1887) and Fr. Michael Moloney, C.C., Rosscarbery (1861-1864).
