The Parish of Desertserges refered to in the Appoinments is now part of the Parish of Enniskeane – the amalgamation occured following the death (23/8/1858) of Fr Donal A. O’Suilleabhain, P.P., Enniskeane.
He was the older brother of Fr. Daniel O’Donoghue, C.C., Cathedral (1845 -1846) and an uncle of of Fr. James O’Mahony, C.C., Innishannon (1881 – 1882).

Very Rev. Dean Henry Neville, V.G., South Parish, Cork, presided at the Solemn Requiem Mass. The celebrant of the Mass was, Very Rev. Denis Canon McSweeney, P.P., Carrigaline; deacon was, Very Rev. John Walsh, P.P., Clontead; sub-deacon was, Fr. John O’Connor, Chaplain, Spike Island Convict Depot, and the master of ceremonies was, Fr. Patrick Hurley, C.C., Cathedral.
