He was a cousin of the brothers; Fr. Laurence Cummins, C.C., Kinsale (1889-1900) and Fr. Daniel Cummins, Chaplain (ret.), Reparation Convent (1925-1943).
He became a devoted and enthusiastic member of the Legion of Mary when it was introduced to Cork in 1927.
He was also a life-long member of the Irish Red Cross Society and an honorary vice-president of the Cork branch.

Obituary
His Lordship Most Rev. Dr. C. Lucey, Bishop of Cork presided at the Office and Solemn Requien Mass.
The celebrant of the Mass was Fr. Tom Fehily, Dublin (nephew); the deacon was V. Rev. Thomas Canon O’Keeffe, P.P., Glanmire, and sub-deacon was V. Rev. James Bastible P.P., St. Patrick’s. The masters of ceremonies were Right Rev. Mgr. Denis Murphy P.P. V.G., The Lough, and Rev Dr. Carthach McCarthy, Farranferris.
