Obituary
The Principal Celebrant at the Mass of Christian Burial at the Church of the Most Precious Blood, Clogheen, on Monday September 23rd, 2013, was Bishop John Buckley. He was assisted by Most Rev Archbishop Patrick Coveney, Emeritus Apostolic Nuncio to Greece, and by Most Rev Padraig O’Donoghue, Emeritus Bishop of Lancaster, who niece is married to Fr Diarmuid’s nephew. They were joined by more than 30 concelebrating clergy, inlcuding Fr Declan Mansfield – whom Fr Diarmuid has asked to sing the Psalm at Mass – and Fr Tom Hayes whom Fr Diarmuid has asked to be the homilist. Before Mass commenced, Fr Diarmuid’s nephew – also Diarmuid Linehan – paid tribute to Fr Diarmuid’s long life of service to God and to the special place in which he was held in his extended family. — Linehan (Ballincollig and Clogheen, Kerry Pike) On September 20th 2013 peacefully at Marymount Hospice, Cork, Very Rev. Canon DIARMUID, former Parish Priest of Clogheen, Kerrypike and the son of the late Richard and Eileen Linehan, Hartlands Road, Cork, predeceased by his brother Brendan and sister Eileen. Deeply regretted by Bishop John Buckley and the priests of the Cork Dioceses, his brothers Paudie and Sean, sister-in-law Diana, his devoted house-keeper Betty, nephews, nieces and their families, relatives and a large circle of friends. Reposing in the Church of the Most Precious Blood, Clogheen from 3pm to 6pm Saturday. Funeral Mass in Clogheen Church on Monday, September 23rd, at 12 noon. Burial afterwards in the Church Grounds.
