It has not been possible to identify any appointments after 1895. His health became seriously impaired, and for many years, due to his poor condition, he remained under the care of the Sisters of the Mercy Hospital.
He was a man of extraordinary ability. He used his genius for inventing different devices. He invented a patent window, which was used for many years on many of the big railway companies carriages in England.

His Lordship, Most Rev. Dr. Cohalan, Bishop of Cork, presided at the Solemn Requiem Mass in the Cathedral, Cork. The celebrant of the Mass was, Fr. Thomas Daly, C.C., Cathedral; deacon was, Fr. Thomas O?Keeffe, C.C., Cathedral; sub-eacon was, Fr. Jeremiah Cohalan, C.C., Cathedral and the master of ceremonies was, Fr. Richard J. Barrett, C.C., Cathedral.
