He was an uncle of Very Rev. Eugene O’Hea, Adm., Kilmacabea (1864-1865), Very Rev. John O’Hea, P.P., Ardfield, Very Rev. Jonas Callanan, Adm., Kilmeen/Castleventry (1893-1906) and a cousin of Fr. Eugene O’Hea, C.C., Ardfield (1857-1859).
He was a granduncle of Fr. Timothy J. O’Sullivan, C.C., Rosscarbery (1914-1916).
In 1849, the present day Diocese of Ross became an independent Diocese, having been united with the Diocese of Cloyne since 1748. After 1849, some of the priests in the Diocese of Ross might have spent much of their clerical ministry working in parishes in what are now part of the present day Diocese of Cloyne. For instance, we find Dr. O’Hea as a curate in Castlelyons (1835), Kilworth (1840), Kanturk (1843), Rathcormack (1845), Conna (1846), Kanturk (1849) – all parishes in the present day Cloyne Diocese, prior to his appointment at Parish Priest of Rosscarbery (1850).
