Diocese publishes guidance on use of online media

More than 120 representatives of parishes along with priests of the diocese attended an online webinar at which Bishop Fintan Gavin launched a policy document to guide use of online communications by parishes in the diocese.

This guidance to parishes aims to set out opportunities which are available to parishes to use, to alert parishes to pastoral applications and best practice for social media, highlight the requirements of civil and church law relating to these forms of communications and make available some online resources which can be consulted.

It was presented to parish representatives and clergy in two webinars on March 1st and 4th.

Bishop Fintan Gavin initiated the development of the the Guidance document and was drafted by Cleo Yates, Director of Safeguarding, Michelle O’Riordan, Data Protection Officer, and Fr. Tom Hayes, PP VG, Enniskeane.
