Bishops issue guidance for return to Mass on June 29th

‘We will need to supplement it ourselves to answer local questions.  These include attending to plans for the celebration of First Holy Communion, Confirmations, baptisms, small weddings and memorial Masses.’

In recent days, the government has announced that places of worship can open ‘with precautions’ from 29th June.

The Irish Bishops’ Conference has prepared the attached Framework Document for the Return to the Public Celebration of Mass and the Sacraments to support parishes and faith communities as we prepare for 29th June.

When publishing the document to clergy and people of the diocese, Bishop Fintan, noted that this is a framework document “and, of its nature, is general as it takes account of 26 dioceses.”

“We will need to supplement it ourselves to answer local questions.  These include attending to plans for the celebration of First Holy Communion, Confirmations, baptisms, small weddings and memorial Masses.

Bishop Fintan asked that priests “would engage with your parish pastoral council/parish assembly, parish finance committee and dedicated volunteers to initially discuss this framework document.”
