Bishop Fintan Gavin paid a pastoral visit to Bandon Parish on Sunday where he celebrated the parish’s first Sunday Masses with a congregation since the restrictions imposed by the Covid19 pandemic.

“A lot has been done to keep people in contact with parishes during the pandemic,” the bishop said, “But it’s never the same as being in church and part of a praying congregation at Mass.”

Bishop Fintan was welcomed to the parish by Canon John Kingston and Fr. John O’Donovan.

As parishioners returned to church they were guided by members of the Bandon Branch of the Irish Red Cross who helped with stewarding and helped people become familiar with the new seating arrangements which provide for social distancing in the church.
