Bishop leads pilgrims on weekend pilgrimage to Lourdes

One hundred and forty people of all ages have joined Bishop Fintan Gavin on a pilgrimage to the Marian Shrine at Lourdes.

The Cork and Ross Autumn Pilgrimage began Friday afternoon with Mass for pilgrims in the Rosary Basilica. Bishop Fintan Gavin was the Chief Celebrant and the homily was preached by Fr. Michael Keohane.

In his opening words, Bishop Fintan welcomed everyone to the pilgrimage and especially to the Rosary Basilica. Fr. Michael spoke of the fact that the pilgrimage was a special time of grace and that people are not on their own in their suffering.

Cork and Ross pilgrims will join in the Candlelight Procession each evening. The pilgrimage continues on Saturday with Mass and Anointing of the Sick followed by the Stations of the Cross.

May God bless all those on pilgrimage and those for whom they pray.  Our Lady of Lourdes, pray for us.  St. Bernadette, pray for us.
