Bishop Fintan leads prayers at Lourdes for deceased homeless Cork man

Bishop of Cork and Ross Most Reverend Fintan Gavin has expressed his prayerful support for the family and friends of the man who died in Cork city overnight as a result of an assault.

”It is always a tragedy when anyone dies but these are such sad and brutal circumstances,” Bishop Gavin said.

“The tragic news has reached us in Lourdes where a pilgrimage from Cork and Ross is praying at Our Lady’s Shrine.

“I want to assure the man’s family and his friends and all who knew him that our thoughts and prayers are with them at this time. May Our Lady of Lourdes reach out with healing and peace to all.”

Bishop Fintan Gavin is the Principal Celebrant at Sunday’s Mass for pilgrims during the Diocese of Cork and Ross weekend pilgrimage to Our Lady’s Shrine at Lourdes, Frances.
